Long Creature Personal Project WORK IN PROGRESS

Long creature: A personal creature art project to build on my modelling, rigging and animation skills.
I really wanted to build on my creature design skills for this project, inspired by animals such as the jaguarundi, oriental shorthair cat, red fox and jackal, as well as mythical creatures such as Anubis and the Japanese Kitsune. My creature is a trickster spirit, leading people of the path with the sound of its laughter and its two long tails. While it is unfinished, I plan to full texture it in a stylised aesthetic, then rig and and pose it. As a stretch goal, I want to make it a small environment and get it in engine for some pretty renders.

Adding the top layer of fur, I was inspired by more stylised fur modelling styles over realistic

Beginning of adding fur, this will help break up the smooth shape of the creature and add interest to it's design

Finished with the mouth. Despite the difficulties, am I satisfied with this outcome.

Started with the new mouth, I wanted the teeth set into the face as it looks more realistic than having them protrude out.

First attempt at the mouth, I like how the largest teeth look but the others don't look right.

Got the full body and eyes now, the symmetry tool was a great help in making this process efficient.
